Vladimir Putin is a Russian politician and intelligence officer who has served multiple terms as President of Russia (1999–2008, 2012–present) and also as Prime Minister (1999–2000, 2008–2012), becoming one of the world’s most influential and enduring leaders. After graduating from law school, he joined the *** and served abroad before moving into politics in St. Petersburg, eventually becoming acting president in late 1999 and winning the presidency in 2000.
